Contributing to UNECE's Framework for E-Mobility Integration and Energy System Transformation

GreenBee's experts have been actively engaged in the UNECE Informal Task Force on Electric Mobility, where Roland Ferwerda (Director) and Juan David Roldán (public policy specialist) served as co-authors of the E-Mobility Compendium and contributed technical expertise to country-specific assessments for Tajikistan and Albania. As countries across the UNECE region work to integrate electric mobility into their energy systems and meet climate commitments, the need for accessible, practical knowledge becomes critical.

The E-Mobility Compendium synthesizes best practices and case studies across the full e-mobility ecosystem—from policy frameworks and charging infrastructure to smart grid integration, circular economy principles, and collaborative governance. Using a "Why-How-What" framework, it guides policymakers through the strategic drivers of transition, the pathways governments can take (market-driven vs. policy-driven), and concrete implementation steps. What makes this work particularly valuable is its evolution beyond a static report. The Task Force is now developing the Compendium into a dynamic repository where stakeholders—governments, utilities, operators, researchers—can search for relevant best practices tailored to their specific needs and context, while also contributing their own successful experiences. This collaborative approach creates a continuously growing knowledge base that reflects real-world implementation across diverse national circumstances. Case studies range from Norway's ambitious EV adoption targets and Germany's data-driven infrastructure planning tool (StandortTOOL) to France's self-financing feebate system and the Netherlands' multi-stakeholder charging infrastructure coordination platform. Each example provides transferable insights while acknowledging the importance of adapting strategies to local conditions—whether that's Tajikistan's hydropower-dominated energy system or emerging markets with limited initial infrastructure. This engagement reflects the core of what GreenBee does: providing practical tools and knowledge to strengthen e-mobility ecosystems. By participating in the development of an accessible, evolving platform for best practices, we contribute to reducing the barriers that countries face when designing and implementing sustainable transport strategies. The repository approach ensures that lessons learned in one context can inform and accelerate progress elsewhere—exactly the kind of knowledge exchange that enables effective, scalable transitions. The collaboration with UNECE demonstrates how international cooperation and technical expertise can create frameworks that are both globally informed and locally actionable, supporting countries at different stages of e-mobility development to build resilient, future-ready transport systems.
